- At the invitation of host mayor Antonio Costa, Wynn delivered the keynote address at the European Creative Cities Summit in Lisbon, Portugal.
- At the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., Wynn kicked off the international Plug-In Partners campaign – the transformational effort to convince the global automotive manufacturing sector that a market exists for plug-in hybrid electric vehicles.
- Wynn gave the keynote speech on Global Warming to the 16th annual Congress for the New Urbanism (CNU) linking dramatically better land use practices to energy conservation and climate protection.
- Along with former President Bill Clinton and former Vice President Al Gore, Wynn spoke at the U.S. Mayors Summit on Climate Protection in Seattle where he hosted a panel discussion on greenbuilding.
- Wynn presented his administration’s initiatives regarding childhood obesity prevention at the Institute of Medicine (IOM) Committee’s meeting held at the Texas State Capitol.
- At the invitation of host NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg and the Clinton Climate Initiative, Wynn addressed the mayors of the world’s 40 largest cities regarding greenbuilding and renewable energy.
- Wynn spoke on energy policy, climate change and the need for aggressive government response in a presentation to the Western States Land Commissioners Association, a body bringing together agency executives from 23 states as well as staff and industry representatives.
- During the 12th International Conference on Technology Policy and Innovation in Porto, Portugal, Wynn addressed the need for “knowledge networks” as a long-term growth strategy for innovation within local economies.
- Wynn spoke on local initiatives at the U.S. Green Building Council international conference in Chicago, an event that drew more than 23,000 attendees from around the world.
- During the plenary session at the annual winter meeting of the U.S. Conference of Mayors, Wynn presented his Steps to a Healthier Austin program outlining his city’s initiatives based on being an inaugural grantee of the CDC-sponsored program.
- Wynn received training from Al Gore at The Climate Project in Nashville and has presented his Austin version of the slideshow that inspired the Academy Award-winning documentary, An Inconvenient Truth, to hundreds of community groups, business leaders and policy makers in calling for dramatic expansion of energy efficiency policies.
